The deadly Delta variant is quite contagious, and it has been spreading rapidly in the country and the requirement of protection against the same is immense. The administration of the booster shot might help contain its spread, but the booster shots cannot be administered officially without the FDA approval

Pfizer Submits Data To FDA Proving That Booster Dose Is Effective Against Coronavirus Variants.

On Monday, Pfizer and BioNtech submitted their research data to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in support of administering Covid booster shots to the public to increase their immunity against the Coronavirus and its deadly variants.

Pfizer Submits Data To FDA Proving That Booster Dose Is Effective Against Coronavirus Variants.

As per the reports, it was seen that the application of booster shots indicated an increase in the antibody response, thus the antibody count was more as compared to those who had taken the tradition two shots of the vaccine. The booster shot was seen to be equally protective against the Beta and the Delta variants of the Coronavirus. The company said that the booster dose administered after 6-12 months of the primary vaccination schedule may help maintain a higher level of protection against the Coronavirus as high immune response was observed for such cases in the research.

The CEO of BioNTech, Dr Ugur Sahin said that the research data indicates that a third dose of the vaccine might just provide the level of protection required against the wild-type virus and its relevant variants. A booster vaccine could thus help control the spread of the future variants of the virus thereby providing the people of the country with required immunity. The Delta variant has caused a state of panic among the citizen of the country as no one was expecting the Coronavirus to come back in such a contagious and deadly form. There were always going to be variants, as the Coronavirus like any other virus mutates with time but yetthe people and healthcare administration were not as prepared as they should have been.

This research data from Pfizer and BioNTech comes at a time when there has been a surge in hospitalizations, particularly among the unvaccinated people in the southern part of the country. The Pfizer administration believes that the booster shots will be needed soon, so the FDA needs to approve the administration of the same, as soon as possible, but the US health officials feel that there has been so sign that the shot is needed in the current scenario.

Recently, the FDA and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) authorized the use of a third dose of vaccine for immunocompromised people as these people had very little to no response to the first two doses of the vaccine and there was immense need of a third dose to enhance their immunity so as to protect them against the Coronavirus. The immunocompromised people already have a weak immune system so the Coronavirus can easily affect them, and it could be deadly for them, so the FDA seeing this authorized use of a booster shot in such special cases.

In the US, the Covid cases have been rapidly surging since the past few weeks, and the morale has gone down a bit among the people as well as the health officials as the country was returning to normalcy a few months ago and then the country was hit by the Delta wave, thus forcing them to bring out their masks and avoid public gatherings.

Pfizer and BioNTech said that they expect results from the booster dose trial shortly and then they plan to submit the data for the same to medical authorities, the FDA and even the European Medical Agency as they firmly believe that medical authorities need to be prepared to administer the booster dose to all to avoid spread of other Coronavirus variants in the near future.
